Jodie Anton Vasek, born December 28, 1932 in Bell County, Texas. Died February 03, 2020 in Irving, Texas at the age of 87. Jodie was preceded in death by his parents, Joe John Vasek and Albina Krahulik Vasek, by his grandson John Bently Foster, and by former wife Montez Vasek. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Andel Vasek; his children Susan Josch and her husband Bob, Melissa Fulton and her partner Rick Baumgarth, and Paul Vasek and his wife Tracy; sisters Dorothy Lloyd and Marguerite Vanderford. He is also survived by his grandchildren Miranda Fulton Dean and her husband Patrick, Faith Foster, Mary Rose Vasek, Charles Josch, Robert Josch, Rachel Vasek, Emma Vasek; and by his great grandchildren Eva Gray Dean and James Dean. Jeanette has two daughters, Dawna Mischtian and Marsha Greeley; and six grandchildren, Zoe and Nick Mischtian, Tiffany Carty, Erin, Samantha and Kiera Greeley. Jodie was born and grew up in rural Bell County, TX in Czech farm country. He graduated from Holland High School in 1952 before joining the US Army, where he served in Germany as part of the reconstruction of Europe post WW2. In 1956 he married Montez Dodd. They moved to Dallas and eventually to Irving where he lived, worked, and raised his family. In 2000 Jodie married Jeanette Andel and moved back to Temple in Bell County. During the last 15 years he spent an untold number of days and nights at his beloved ranch in Kopperl, TX with his son Paul and the entire family. Jodie loved to work, and he spent most of his career in printing and paper sales. He continued working into his 80s, long after most people would have retired. He also loved to travel. It began in Germany while in the Army, continued throughout his life, and ended with his wife, Jeanette, as they traveled the world together. Jodie also loved to dance and was known to glide across the dance floor to a Czech waltz. He also loved to spend time outdoors, hunting, fishing, or just messing around in his yard and garden or at his ranch. But mostly, Jodie loved his family, spending all the time he was able with his children throughout their lives. However, he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, whether it was taking them dancing, hunting, or just hanging out with them telling stories and trading jokes. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 8, 3:00 PM, Donnellys Funeral Home, 600 W. Airport Frwy., Irving, TX 75062. A Memorial/Interment will take place in Temple, Texas at a time to be determined.
