Jim Jarrett was born on September 11, 1948 at Good Samaritan Hospital Sandusky Ohio. He graduated from Norwalk High School, Norwalk Ohio in 1962 and later from Baldwin Wallace University in 1971 majoring in Vocal and Piano performance. Later, he also attended Julliard School of the Performing Arts in New York City, one of the best music schools in America and the world.
During his childhood, Jim toured North America and the world as a child protg in both voice and piano. He played a Steinway piano for those concerts and tours. During his college years, he worked as front desk manager at the grand Hotel Breakers at Cedar Point, the roller coaster capital of the world. He also made the journey to upstate New York for the Woodstock festival during his college years.
Jim later went on to tour across the United States and Canada with Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians for a number of years and performed for two US Presidents. He spoke very fondly about those touring years and the bus rides between the various tour stops across North America with Fred and the rest of the team. He was a gifted singer, pianist and dancer with absolutely perfect vocal pitch. His voice was truly angelic.
Jim was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and performed studio background vocals for various famous singers including Dolly Parton and many others.
Jims life and career would take him to California where he lived in the Hollywood Hills for many years and he had Lucille Ball as one of his nearby neighbors when she was still married to Ricky. He looked back fondly on his years in California and missed the weather and beauty of the Golden State.
Mid-career, Jim made a dramatic career change (as only he could do) from gifted performer and singer to IT professional and this work took him on his continued life journey to Oklahoma City and work for Flemings Foods supporting their SAP ERP systems. He was in Oklahoma City during the Federal building bombing and could feel the violent shaking of the earth from 7 miles away.
His career and life would later take another turn as he got hired by SAP America (the 2nd largest software firm in the world) as an ABAP programming instructor in Dallas, Texas. This led to Jim selling his home in Oklahoma and moving to the DFW area in Irving Texas where he lived near the SAP offices in Las Colinas. He was one of the highest rated instructors in all of North America during his time with SAP and clients loved his amazing teaching style and ABAP programming brilliance.
In his later years, Jim had several health issues and retired from his work but never stopped showing love and compassion to everyone he came in contact with.
Jim was immensely talented, brilliant, caring and selfless man who was a light in this world and truly made a difference in the love he shared with those around him. He always thought of others, not himself. His life was an amazing journey of incredible accomplishments that he somehow fit into his 70 years on this earth with us. He always managed to remain somehow humble despite his unbelievable accomplishments.
Jim passed away after a long battle with cancer (he never stopped fighting) on August 19th, 2019. He left behind a small group of close friends that were truly touched with the beautiful talents and genuineness he shared with us. He was preceded in death by his mother Dorthea Krapp in 1980, and nephew Kevin Kiser in 2017. He is survived by his sister Margaret Kiser and his godson Keith Kiser who still live in Ohio.
Jim Jarret will be truly missed by those whose lives he touched and changed. Thank you, Jim, for all the amazing gifts you have so generously shared with us!
