Obituary

Bobbie Jean Hopson was born August 31, 1929 in Marshall, Texas to W.D. and Lillian F. Tittle. She grew up in Marshall and attended Hockaday College Preparatory School in Dallas. In 1950 she graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in Education. Her first teaching job was in Sinton, Texas where she met her devoted husband James (Jim) S. Hopson. They were happily married for over 65 years. In 1958, Jim and Jean moved to Irving where they raised their children James S. Hopson, Jr. and Deborah Jean Johnston. She continued her 20+ year career teaching 4th grade at Brandenburg Elementary in the Irving School District. Through her entire adult life, Jean was a faithful servant in the Lord's church. Her Bible study groups and Bible Study Fellowship gatherings were a central focus in her daily life. She was involved in a variety of serving opportunities at South Delaware and South MacArthur Churches of Christ where Jim served as an Elder for 27 years. Following that period, she and Jim have been members of CHRIST Church in Irving since its formation. Every morning, she and Jim held their Bible study and shared a special time as they prayed for their children, their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean and Jim were known for opening their home to their friends as well as their childrens friends. They hosted countless bridge parties, family birthday parties and holiday celebrations. Jeans emphasis in her life was on her husband, her son and daughter, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She treasured her time and conversations with each of them as well as the rest of her family and friends. Through her love and influence they grew to be faithful Christians and servants in the Lords church. Jean was loved and admired by her children and grandchildren and all who knew her. Her kindness and loyalty impacted us as we grew up. She made each of us better individuals. Her sweet and unconditional love will remain in our hearts forevermore. Thank you, Jean for loving us.
