JANIS WILKS HERTWIG, age 65, a resident of Irving for 26 years, died August 22, 2011 at her home. Born December 15, 1945 in Taylor, Texas, she was the daughter of Foy and Opal Ellerd Wilks. Janis was an English teacher at MacArthur High School for 36 years. For many of those years, she devoted her time to teaching summer school. A devoted grandmother, during her retirement, she babysat her granddaughters. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bobby Wilks and brother, Charles Wilks, survivors include her son, John Hertwig and wife Amber of Fort Worth; daughter, Julie Hertwig of Dallas; granddaughters, Madison Hertwig of Fort Worth, Kylie Hertwig of Fort Worth, and Alexia Hertwig of Dallas. A Memorial service was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.
