Janell Heifner King, 72, a resident of Irving, Texas since 1970, passed away on Sunday May 21, 2023, at Baylor Scott & White hospital in Irving, surrounded by her loved ones. Born October 28, 1950, in McKinney, TX to James Maurell Heifner and Iola Rolf Heifner, she grew up within Collin County. She met the love of her life, Willis King, in college and they married on August 20, 1971, in Allen, TX. Married fifty years before his passing, they welcomed three children, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren, filling the home with so much love and laughter. While she loved her job as an accounting specialist over the years, family was first and foremost in her life. She was very involved in her childrens activities, including being the soccer and baseball teams mom, supplying snacks and anything needed for practices and games. While her husband was the face of the activities by being the coach of the sporting events and the Boy Scout Master, she was the backbone that kept the activities organized and running. She was the family matriarch, mediator, teacher, nurse/doctor/healer, cook, baker, strongest supporter and all-around glue that kept the family together. She did everything in her power to make sure every single person in the family felt loved and knew their worth.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and loving husband. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Danny King and wife Jessica of Quitman, Texas, Robin King of Bedford and Brian King and his wife Karla, of Grand Prairie; one brother, Bobby Heifner of Allen, TX; five grandchildren, Justin King, Jacob King, Jocelyn King, Kaitlyn Spruce and Kamryn Spruce; three great - grandchildren, Lila, Noah and Katie as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm 8:00pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Colonial Funeral Home of Irving located at 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving. The funeral will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 01, 2023, at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Wilson Chapel Cemetery in Collin County.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, new stuffed teddy bears/animals be given/donated/dropped off at the funeral home and/or at your local childrens hospital in Janells memory. The stuffed animals dropped off at the funeral home will be given to a local childrens hospital for children in the community that need a little extra love, care and support.
