Jane McEver Dixon, 94, a resident of Irving since 1963 "graduated" Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Irving. Born August 31, 1927 in Lampasas, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Dixon Connally McEver and Alta Cross McEver. She graduated from Milby High School in Houston and married Gerald E. Dixon, Sr. on August 18, 1945 in Hondo, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1992. After her first career as a homemaker and her children left home, she reinvented herself. She was hired initially in the lunchroom at Irving High School (much to the chagrin of her elder daughter at Irving High), and later became a middle school teachers assistant. She retired from the Irving Independent School District in 1987. She was a hospital volunteer at Irving Hospital and Baylor Scott & White for 31 years. She was a member of the Texas State Chapter, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Irving Book Review Club, Aerobics Club at Heritage Senior Center, Irving Hospital District Neighborhood Association, St. Lukes Silver Seniors and Irving Silvertones Chorus. She was a member of Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church in Irving. Preceded in death by her husband in 1992, her first son, Gerald E. Dixon, Jr. in 1987; her parents; two brothers; two sisters; and later, on the same day of her death, she lost her youngest son, Patrick Alan Dixon. Survivors include her son Thomas E. Dixon and wife Linda of Spokane, Washington; her two daughters, Cynthia Ann Dixon and husband Marco Bucklen of Irving, and Jane E. Dixon and husband Jim Everett of Los Angeles, California; nine grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 10:00 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2021 at Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving, Texas 75062. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220.
