Obituary

James (Jim) Allen Wohletz was called to eternity on Sunday, November 24, 2024. He was at his home in Oak Point, Texas, with his loving and caring wife, Dianne. Jim drew his last breath, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith. A devoted Christian, Jim placed his trust in God's promises, finding comfort and hope in His eternal grace. He was looking forward to being 81 years old on December 5, 2024 so he would be the same age as Dianne and her twin sister, Linda Lackey who reached 81 years in January, 2024.

Jim had lived life to the fullest. He had many different experiences starting with leaving home at 15 and lying about his age to become an ambulance driver. He always said that experience made him grow up fast. When he turned 18 he worked as a technician and camera man at KOAT-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He enjoyed the challenge of placing commercials at just the right time so as not to interfere with the "soap box operas" during the day to avoid getting complaints about program interruptions. From this experience with KOAT he learned about computers and became fascinated with them. When he received his draft notice in 1965, he decided to join the United States Air Force and when asked about his interests he said, "I want to learn how computers work." Wow, and did he learn! In the Air Force he was assigned to Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi and took computer classes and quickly was promoted to Instructor and left the service as a Master Instructor.

Over the next 30 years, Jim worked as a trainer, mentor, and account executive in the computer corporations of Recognition Equipment, TRW, and Northrop Grumman. He worked in the East Coast area of New York and New Jersey to the West Coast in California and then settled in Texas. He was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. He and Dianne enjoyed traveling to National Parks in our beautiful

country, Europe, Ukraine, South America and Mexico. He had been elected to the Oak Point City Council and served as Mayor of Oak Point for many years. He loved this city he called home and the United States of America. He was a Lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks and served as trustee for the Lake Ray Roberts Area Elks Lodge in Sanger, Texas. This was his second family with many

friends. Jim was patriotic and loved being a part of this fraternal organization.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents Charles Joseph Wohletz, his mother Juanita Burns and his brother, Greg Wohletz. He is survived by his wife of almost 25 years, Dianne Wohletz, and his son Chris Wohletz (Svitlana Pantsyr) and his grandson Bohdan Wohletz of Denton, TX., his daughter, Lorhonda Wohletz Frady (Jimmy Frady) and two granddaughters, Heather Frady and Erica Frady Couch and three great grandsons,

Daxton, Forrest and Waylon of Cleveland, Georgia and his stepson, Kirk Garner (Becca Garner), and three granddaughters, Michal, Marcie and Mindy Garner of Colorado Springs, Colorado and his sisters-in law, Linda Lackey of Irving, TX and Claudia Rivers of El Paso, TX. Jim's nephews Eric Lackey (Emily), sons Nathan and Caleb Lackey of Irving and Raymond Scott Lackey of Albuquerque. Brother-in-law Byron Garner of Ogden, Utah and niece Lisa Garner Rusch (Rusty) with children Sydney, Isabella, Matthew and Ben of Fort Collins, Colorado and niece Candace Garner Davis (Chris) with daughters Katie and Kallee of Piedmont, Oklahoma. Jim is survived by many friends, neighbors and extended family members, from many places who will all miss his humor, his great stories, rubber band tricks, pranks, and loving generosity. His life's motto was "Don't Ever Give Up".

Jim's service will be at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211 on January 2, 2025 at 11:15 A.M. with military service. Immediately following his graveside service, a celebration of life for all to visit with Jim's family and friends will be held at the Luxe at Las Colinas Apartments, 5000 North State Highway 161, Irving, Texas 75038 after the National Cemetery service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to a charity of your choice. Jim often donated to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Foundation, Elks National Foundation, Disabled American Veterans, and North Texas Food Bank
