James Wayne Nelson was born on August 12, 1966, in Irving, Texas. Preceded in death by Father Thomas, Mother Joan (Dee), and daughter Jacklyn. He gained his wings on Friday December 15, 2023, in Bedford, TX. James is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jacki; children, Jeremy (wife Brittney), Christopher and Dustin; brother, Tommy (wife Stormy); grandchildren, Kellan, Kayden, and Karlynn. James grew up in Irving, Texas, where he attended Nimitz High School. It was also in Irving, Texas, while working at Taco Inn, where James met and fell in love with his soul mate Jacki. They have resided in Euless, Texas for the past 14 years. In 2019, James retired from Wal-Mart in Arlington as a department manager. James was loved and respected by all colleagues he worked with throughout his career. His nickname with most people was "big teddy bear" and he gave the best hugs and had an amazing smile. You could find him on Sundays glued to the TV watching football and he made certain that included his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. His love for his family, friends and grandchildren was clearly evident. He will be missed by all those that were lucky enough to have him in their life. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 31st, at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Irving, with Rev. Dennis King officiating. Cremation will follow services. Friends may visit Saturday, December 30th, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
