JIM EMPTING, age 84, resident of Irving, died Saturday, March 5, 2011. Born in 1926 at Algona, Iowa, he was a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He was an Ensign in the United States Navy and was a district office manager for the Maytag Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1982. Preceded in death by his wife Patricia Barr Empting and a daughter Elizabeth Ann, he is survived by his son James Patrick Empting of Dallas; daughter Ellen Herring and husband David of Henderson, NV; grandsons, Trevor and Eric; and a great granddaughter, Sophia Herring; longtime companion, Zita R. Funk. Rosary will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church, 2323 Cheyenne Dr. Irving. Burial will be 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
