J.B. WATKINS, age 92, a resident of Irving, died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Brookdale Senior Living in Plano. Born October 2, 1922 in Portales, New Mexico, he was the son of Harley Watkins and Stella Adams Watkins. J.B. was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, and a longtime member of Oak View Baptist Church in Irving. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Wanda Jean Watkins in 2006. Survivors include his daughter, Vicki Roberts and husband Marlin of Dallas; sons, James Watkins and wife Betty of Keller, and Steve Watkins of California; granddaughters, Kristin Rust, Jennifer Northcutt, Jessica Watkins and Andrea Perez; seven great grandchildren; and sisters, Maxine Holderman and Nadine Hollars, both of El Paso. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 1 at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving with Dr. Jim Gerlach officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Following the funeral service, burial will be at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 East Irving Blvd in Irving. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
