J. D. McVay, 94, of Irving, died on December 24, 2017 at a local hospital. He was born on August 8, 1923 in Fannin County, Texas to Marion Cleveland and Florence Ada (Carouth) McVay. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Beatrice Jones, Rosa Jane Dickerson, Meritt McVay and Herman McVay. J.D. is survived by his wife of 71 years, Florence Clyde (Smith) whom he married on October 26, 1946 in Dodd City, Texas; son, David McVay and wife Barbara of Irving; granddaughter, Katherine Hearn of Irving; two great-grandchildren: Aubrey Hearn and Amber Hearn Martinez; and two great-great-great grandchildren: Benjamin and Bella. JD retired in 1984 from Texas Instruments. They lived in Bonham prior to moving to Irving in 1988. He was a member of Oak View Baptist Church in Irving. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28 at Oak View Baptist Church, 1004 South Story Road. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the service. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 7405 West NW Highway, Dallas, Texas 75225. SERVICES
