Howard Mitchell Gordon, Senior, 79, was born November 6, 1943, in Dallas, Texas. He passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023, in Carrollton, Texas. Howard graduated from the N. R. Crozier Technical High school in Dallas, 1962. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, a graduate of the Irving Citizens Fire Academy and the Irving Citizens Police Academy. He has been a long-standing member of the Elks Lodge #2404. Howard showed his strong ethical and reliable traits over his career where he worked at the Dallas County Tax office as a deputy county clerk and field appraiser, as well as tax examiner for Transamerica Real estate. At Northern Telecom he had government security clearance for military contracts as a security systems operator, was a member of the CPR Emergency Team, and was recognized for identifying signs of a heart attack and following the proper procedures that allowed one of his co-workers to walk out of the Coronary Care Unit days later. He loved fishing, teasing his grandchildren, and spending time with his family. Some of his favorite times included spending quality time with friends and family traveling around the country. Howard faithfully attended church and bible class at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on Sunday mornings and was involved in the lunch bunch and the sandwich ministry. He has been a part of Eddie and Brians Way charity, helping to comfort and bring joy to families in the ER for the past 23 years. Not only was he a member of the Irving Retired School Personnel Association but also helped his wife grade papers and other teaching assistant activities. His grandkids were the light of his life. Not only did he attend soccer and volleyball games but also was a regular at plays, dance recitals, and many school programs. Howard is preceded in death by his parents Howard Luther and Bessie, sisters June (Marvin) and Kathy, son-in-law Shane, sister-in-law Denise (LaGene), brother-in-law Richard, and great-granddaughter Pieper. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 31years, Carolyn Gordon, sisters Martha and Vicki, sister-in-law Delores, son Howard Mitchell, daughter Karen, stepdaughter Kathy (Raymond), stepson Brian (Analisa) and grandchildren Bethany, Crystal, Isabella, Nathan, Mitchell, Anthony, and Keondre as well as 13 great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends. Donations can be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or Eddie & Brians Way in Howards name. His memorial service will be Friday June 16th 11 am at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 2505 W.
