HAROLD ATKINSON, age 83, a resident of Irving, Texas for 43 years, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at home. Born March 15, 1927 in Mexia, Texas, Harold was the son of Harry Richard Atkinson and Mamie Massey Atkinson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a sales representative, retiring from Rockwell International in Dallas after 26 years. He owned the children's boutique, "Peppermint Tree" in Irving and was an active member of Calvary Church in Irving. Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jimmie Atkinson; daughter, Melissa Jean Smith; grandchildren, Brooke Thomas, Steve Smith, Jr. and Daniel Gordon; great grandchildren, Kilah Johnson and Cameron Johnson; brothers, Von Atkinson and Dennis Atkinson; sisters, Linda Barnett and Geraldine Weatherford. The family will receive friends at a visitation to be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 18 at the funeral home chapel with Pastor J. Don George officiating. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in Euless.
