Obituary

Gregorio Carmona Garcia Jr. was born on July 11, 1937, in Lubbock, TX and passed away in his home on February 6, 2026, in Irving, TX. He was a big man with a big heart and loved his family deeply, especially his grandchildren. He was affectionately known as Wello by his nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Greg was a proud Marine and served as combat engineer in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959 (Lance Corporal E-3). His final resting place will be in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Greg grew up in Lubbock where he met his wife of 64 years, Odilia Urias Garcia. They had four children: Lanny, Gary, Dina and Greg III. Wello loved to tell boxing stories. One of his proudest moments was winning the 1954 Golden Gloves State Championship in the welterweight division. He had many jobs over the years and a hard work ethic. He moved his family to Irving in 1971 and worked for Polaroid Corporation for 17 years until his retirement. He was a loyal employee and never missed his children's sporting events. In his later years, he enjoyed playing golf and was a marshal at Twin Wells Golf Course. He spent many hours drinking coffee and telling stories at the Irving Senior Center. He is survived by….
