Grace Recio was born on September 25, 1929 and passed away peacefully on April 19, 2019 at the age of 89. She was born in Rice, Texas to parents, Mary D. and Joseph C. Rutherford. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Cedar Hill, Texas. Grace is survived by her four children David Platt, Stephen Platt, Cynthia Tignor and Rebecca Hardin; her sister, Margie McFarland; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Recio, Jr.; her parents, Mary D. and Joseph C. Rutherford; her brothers, J. C. Rutherford and Mike Rutherford and her sister, Clara Francis. Grace was very active in square dancing until her later years and served as treasurer of her Square Dance Association. She was well known for her great love for her family, friends and the many animals she cared for during her lifetime. She was a fine Christian woman who sacrificed unselfishly for her children. A viewing will be held at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home located at 606 W. Airport Freeway, Irving, Texas 75062 from 2:00-3:00 pm on Thursday, April 25, 2019. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Committal services will be at 9:15 am on April 26, 2019 at DFW National Cemetery located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211 Charitable donations in her memory may be made to the DFW Humane Society in Irving, Texas or a charity of choice.
