GLORIA WHETSTONE, age 86, a resident of Irving since 1960, died March 26, 2013 at her home. Born March 23, 1927 in Vivian, Louisiana, she was the daughter of Ira and Annie Merle Westbrook. A dance teacher from age 16 and a member of Dallas Ballet Company, Gloria owned the Gloria Whetstone School of Dance from 1962-1987. Her legacy of trained dancers, teachers and awards including the "Legacy of Dance Life Achievement Award" speak to the contributions she made to dance. Survived by sons, Dr. Ric Whetstone and wife Teri, and Brant Whetstone, all of Irving; grandchildren, Shannon Whetstone, Tate Whetstone, Chad (Missy) Whetstone, Chris Whetstone and Conner Whetstone; one great grandson, Carter Emerson; a niece, Ginger (Richard) Folmer; and nephew, Sloan Folmer. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Rudy. Visitation will be Friday, March 29, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 606 West Airport Freeway, Irving, TX 75062, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Burial 9:00 a.m., Monday, April 1, 2013 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane A.
