Gerry L. Armstrong, 92, a resident of Irving for 53 years, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 11, 2019 in Grapevine, Texas. She was born on April 27, 1926 in Hastings, Oklahoma to the late Quanah Gus and Bonnie Laura (Mitchell) Lyon. Gerry was married to Robert (Bob) Armstrong September 7, 1946 in Trenton, Michigan. She worked in the Irving Independent School district for forty years, having served as the UIL Executive Secretary for Region 20, and was the administrative assistant to Mr. Woody Schober in the Irving ISD Fine Arts department at the time of her retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Irving where she taught Sunday School in the Truth Seekers Department for many years, in a class called "Gerrys Girls" Sunday School Class. Preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Larry Mitchell Lyon and Kay Lyon Barris; a nephew, Brandon Lyon; and her husband, Robert (Bob) Armstrong, she is survived by a daughter, Susan Etter and her husband Gary of Colleyville and a son, Philip Armstrong and his wife Tonya of Grand Prairie; five grandchildren: Joshua Armstrong and wife Melody of Grand Prairie, Jason Armstrong and wife, Eve Hernandez of Dallas, Matthew Etter and wife Sarah of Magnolia, TX, Meredith McCown and husband Mark of Hurst, and Mitchell Etter and wife Amanda of North Richland Hills; fourteen great-grandchildren: Alanna, Gavin, Aiden and Olivia Armstrong, Luke, Ben and Rachel Etter, Maggie, Mollie Grace, Micah and Mandie McCown, Owen, Eli and Noah Etter; a niece, Valerie Enger and her husband Bob of Leawood, KS; a great nephew, Jeff Enger and his wife Katie of Overland Park, KS; and great- great- nieces and nephew, Emily, Olivia, and Austin Enger. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 at First Baptist Church, 403 South Main Street, Irving, Texas 75060. Seniors Pastor Wayne Watkins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. Friday until the service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 East Irving Boulevard, Irving, Texas 75060. SERVICES
