Obituary

Georgia Clanton was born April 21, 1939, in Many, LA, the daughter of Jesse James Higgins and Ettie Elizabeth Mitchell Higgins. She passed away Monday, March 11, 2024, at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas. Georgia was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Roy Clanton; parents; son, Ricky Clanton; grandson, Matthew Hubbard; and her siblings, Allie Pilgrim, Viola Rivers, Opal Bush, Vera Lee Broadway and Truly James Higgins. Left to cherish her memory her children Ronnie Clanton, Tim Clanton and wife Chelly, daughter; Sheila Hubbard and husband Don; daughter-in-law, Terri Clanton; grandchildren; Christopher, Jessica, Jeffrey, Jermey, Amanda, Patrick, Amanda, Lauren and Ryan; great-grandchildren; Gavin, Dylan, Jayden, Tatum, Payton, Lily, James, Paisley, Chase, Julian, Ryley, Nathanael, Seth, Bryan and Susie and numerous nieces & nephews. Georgia was the youngest of 6 children. She grew up and married her childhood friend, Roy Clanton. They raised their 4 children in their home in Irving, TX. Georgia loved traveling and going to the casinos. Georgia loved her family and was there in a moments notice in their time of need. She spent her life caring for children in her home. This is where she became known as Nanny. Her family loved her cooking and will miss her dressing, homemade buttermilk biscuits, and tacos. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved her dearly. Her face lit up even on her final days when they entered her room. She loved us all as her own. Her life should not be measured by the possessions she held, but by the number of lives she touched. Georgia will be missed by many and she will always be Nanny to us. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway, Irving, TX 75062.
