Funeral services for Gary Lynn McCollum, 71, of Irving, will be 11:00 am, Monday, August 12th at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 606 West Airport Freeway, Irving, with Rev. Dennis King officiating. Friends may visit Monday, August 12th from 9:30 till service time in the funeral home. Burial will be at the Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving. Gary was born January 16, 1953 in Wichita County, Texas, the son of Cecil Preston McCollum and Hellon Marie Davis. He passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at his daughter's home in Grand Prairie, Texas. Gary had a deep passion for baseball, cherishing every moment spent watching games, with friends and family. His enthusiasm for the sport was matched only by his love for game shows, where he could be found eagerly answering questions and cheering on contestants. In addition to his love for sports and TV, Gary was an avid fan of claw machines. At local stores or local fairs, his determination to win that plush prize was always a sight to behold. These small moments of joy were a testament to Garys playful spirit and zest for life. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 39 years, Julia McCollum; daughter, Leah McCollum Parker; brothers Randy McCollum and Ronnie McCollum. Left to cherish Gary's memory are his children; Jason McCollum and Jennifer (husband, Rafael) Esquivel; step-daughter, Jamie (husband, Roger) Dennis; grandchildren, Benjamin Esquivel, Alexis Dennis, Lily Dennis, and Roger Dennis, II; and sister, Shelia Fowler.
