Garland Wayne Shackelford of Irving, Texas, passed away peacefully at 89 and a half years old on Monday, May 18, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on November 25, 1936 in Elmdale, Texas and spent his life as a husband, father, grandfather, caretaker, and salesman. He attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Above all, he was known for his genuinity, humor, and storytelling. His and his family's legacies are permanently engraved on this Earth through his heartfelt narrations.

He is survived by his daughters, Tracy and husband Steve Jones, and Kelly Davis and husband Chad Grueb, sons, Bryan and Michael Shackelford, grandchildren Chelsea and husband Foster Hampton, Ashley Davis, James and wife Kayla Shackelford, Shayna and husband Colby Cavenaugh, Shelby and husband Adrian Smith, Allison Jones, Daniel Shackelford, and Chris Grueb, great grandchildren Harper and Harrison Hampton, Tristan and Adelina Davis, and Marley, Tobias, and Benjamin Cavenaugh, along with many other extended family members and friends who will treasure his memory. He was preceded in death by his parents Ira and Ella Dee Shackelford, wife Lennon Elaine Shackelford, son Brad Shackelford, and grandson Tyler Jones.

Though he may be gone from our sight, his love and legacy will live on through his family for generations to come.
