Evelyn Lorene Venable was born in Amarillo Texas on July 11, 1918 to Veda and Asa Baggett. Evelyn was valedictorian of her high school class in Spring Lake, Tx and earned a scholarship to attend Hardin Simmons University. She later married Olan Thomas Venable. They were married 49 years. Her beloved Olan preceded her in death in March of 1983 but were joyfully reunited early on Saturday morning, March 28th. With children by her side, Evelyn left her earthly home to be with her Heavenly Father and all those loved ones who had been waiting for her. Evelyn and Olan (known to friends as O.T.) had 3 children, Arthrene McGinnis (Ronnie Mac), Ronnie Venable and Darlene Allen (Steve Bakalars), 12 grandchildren, of whom she lovingly referred to as "the Grands", 24 Great Grands and 2 Great Great Grands. In 1953, she and Olan and family moved to Irving Tx where they were one of six couples who started Plymouth Park Baptist Church. Other than family, the Church was their life where Evelyn sang in the choir, played the piano, Olan served as Deacon and both taught the Adult Sunday School class for 15 years. After Olan's death, Evelyn continued to teach for 8 years. She was a loyal, compassionate, wise, and beautiful Matriarch to her family who adored her more than can be explained. She loved the Lord with all her heart. She was an inspiration and beautiful woman and will be missed by all. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home, 606 W. Airport Freeway in Irving, TX. The funeral will be 11:00am, Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Plymouth Park Baptist Church, 1714 N. Story Road, Irving, TX 75061. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E. Irving Blvd., Irving, TX 75060.
