Evelyn Evie Elizabeth Burt Curtis was born on January 1, 1930 in Manchester, Iowa. She died March 30, 2017. Evie graduated from Cornell College and did graduate work at Iowa University where she met and married her husband Bill in 1954. Together they had seven children and were happily married for over 52 years. Evie was preceded in death by her parents, Ada and Neal Burt; her brothers Dick and Billie Burt; her husband William T. Curtis; and her youngest son, Anthony William Curtis. She is survived by her daughter Cathy Curtis Cade and husband Bruce Cade; sons Chris; David and wife Glenda Weeden; Jim and wife Patti; Kevin and wife Gina; Ken and wife Maria; and by her granddaughters Catlin Curtis, Lauren Curtis and partner Rudy McGourik, Ada Curtis and great granddaughter Emma McGourik. Evie was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her entire life to her family. She was a faithful member of the Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church since 1974 when the family moved to Irving, TX. She was the exemplar stay-at-home Mom, always there to lend a helping hand or a patient ear. She was the super glue that held her family close together. Evie also worked diligently for the Irving School Foundation and PTA, giving hours upon hours of volunteer time whenever and wherever she was needed. Her past times included lots of reading and bird watching from her kitchen table. She also did her crossword puzzles in ink. A memorial Mass is to be held at the Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church, 2323 Cheyenne Street, Irving TX, 75062 on April 6 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to gather at the family home immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be designated in Evie Curtis memory to Irving Schools Foundation. 2621 W.
