Eudoro "Dory" Rodriguez Torrez was born August 14, 1963 in Sweetwater, Texas, the son of Isabel A. Torrez, Jr and Maria Rodriguez Torrez. He passed away Sunday, September 24th peacefully with his daughter Micaela, sister Mary Ann, brothers Ruben & Ray amongst other family members at his side.
Dory's battle with cancer shocked us all and leaves a huge void in our hearts. Dory had just reached his 60th birthday on August 14th and was very excited to reach this milestone. Dory was like a magnet, he could attach himself to almost anyone. He had no room for enemies (unless you cheered for Eagles or Giants). He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan through & through.
But his first love for sports was baseball. He started at a young age playing for "The Dodgers", a team made up of an Uncle as head coach, two older brothers as assistant coaches and several cousins as players. Dory went on to play many years of baseball including high school competition. His beloved Rangers caused him many a heart ache but every year in late March, his eyes would light up knowing baseball was just around the corner with a hope his beloved Rangers would finally win it all.
Dory comes from a large family that includes many cousins (and we do mean many). He also had the honor of being called "Uncle Dory" by his 5 nieces, 5 nephews and multiple 2nd & 3rd generation nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Isabel A. Torrez Jr. and mother Maria Rodriguez Torrez; nephew Ricky Don Torrez from Irving, TX.
Left to cherish Dorys memory is daughter Micaela Torrez and grandson Adrian Vega; son Eudoro "D.J." Torrez Jr. and wife Denise Tarango Torrez; daughter Tiffany Dominguez and grandsons Jody and Jionni Esparza from Lubbock, TX; son David Ray Newman and granddaughter Ellen Dean Newman from Hallsville, TX; brother Ernest Torrez; brother Ruben Torrez; brother Ray Torrez; sister Mary Ann Torrez from Irving, TX; lastly his beloved Maltese, Cash Torrez.
