Graveside service for Ernest W. Prater, 89, of Irving, Texas will be Friday, 10:00 AM, at the Oak Grove Memorial Garden in Irving, TX. Ernest was born January 30, 1933 in Mansfield, Texas the son of Charles Ernest and Mary Leona Bowman Prater. He was a devoted and hardworking husband, father and grandfather. He was witty and ornery. He enjoyed golfing and even when he was no longer able to golf, he would watch it religiously on television. He loved having his kids, grand-kids, and great grand-kids fill his home especially at the holidays. His favorite time honored traditions were a next level Easter Egg hunt, with eggs filled with change saved from the whole year, and the race Christmas morning to say "Christmas Gift" in person while making eye contact. He was head over heels for the love of his life and missed her immensely. After almost 18 months apart he was able to join his bride in their eternal home. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 54 years LaCleda Rose Prater and 3 siblings. left to cherish his memory is his son, Mark (wife, Angell) Prater; daughter, Debbie (husband, Rocky) Gifford; grandchildren, Jeff Gifford, Tiffany (husband, James) Machet, Joel Gifford, Tara (husband, Kenny) Shook and Tressa (husband, Daniel) Bozorgnia; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
