During his time in MAC, he flew all over the Far East, including South Vietnam, Hawaii, Okinawa, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, and Australia. After retirement, he volunteered at the C. R. Smith Aviation Museum where he was able to serve in flight uniform as host to many guests including his grandchildren. He is a 32nd degree Mason and has been recognized as a member of that organization and Scottish Rite for over 50 years. He married Joyce Cude Ballard in 1954, at the First Baptist Church of Dallas and became a member of that church in 1965.
