EARLENE SLOUGH WEST, age 88, a resident of Irving for 48 years, passed away November 25, 2011. Born July 21, 1923 in Chattanooga, OK, to John and Cansady Barnes, she was employed by the Irving Public Schools, a member of the Red Hat Society and a nine year resident of the Remmington Senior Living Home in Las Colinas. Preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Henry Slough and Jake West; six brothers; one sister; one grandson, Sammy Eugene Slough, and one great-grandson Jared Mathew Slough, survivors include her sons, Marvin Slough and wife Joyce of Irving, TX, Don Slough and wife Laura of Houston; four grandchildren, Karlie, Connie, Scott and Jeff; stepson, James West and wife Sue of Clyde, TX; stepdaughter, Elsie Lee Hoover and husband Billy of Ozona, TX; step grandchildren, Kristie, Annette, Lori, Will and Ann; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Funeral service will 10:30a.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at MacArthur Blvd. Baptist Church, 8001 Mustang Dr. in Irving. Burial will be at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6:00 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2011. Memorials may be made to a charity of ones choice.
