E. T. VERNON, JR., age 87, a resident of Irving, Texas for 64 years, died Monday, December 20, 2010 at an Irving care center. Born March 19, 1923 in Hermleigh, Texas, he was the son of Immanuel and Ethel Griffin Vernon. E.T. was a member of First Baptist Church of Irving. He is survived by his wife, Eddie Vernon; sons, Emanuel Vernon III and wife Angela and Ed Vernon, all of Irving; daughters, Cheree Johnson and husband Tim of Roanoke and Chrystal Scott and husband Shawn of Hickory Creek; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and sister, Sissy Bates of Arlington. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 23rd at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving with Jerry Perrill officiating.
