Dorothy
Naylor
Oct 28, 1933 — Jul 3, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Dorothy "Dottie" Naylor, age 92, on July 3, 2026, at her home in Irving, Texas. Dorothy was born on October 28, 1933, in Sand Lake, Texas, to Lonnie and Elva Densmore Speck.
Dorothy graduated from Mesquite High School in 1952 and worked as a dental assistant for many years for Dr. Fred England in Irving.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights of her life. She loved playing games on her Kindle and in healthier days enjoyed regular trips to South Padre Island, Hot Springs, Arkansas, and other road trips. Her greatest joy was family gatherings, and her favorite holidays were Christmas and the 4th of July.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ramona "Monie" Womack and brother Lonnie Speck, Jr.
Left to cherish Dorothy's memory is her husband of 72 years, Howard N. Naylor, Jr.; daughter, Karen McNamara and husband Gerald; son, Howard "Bud" Naylor, III and wife Patti; sister, Sandra Hicks; grandchildren, Howard "Nate" Naylor and wife Kelsey, Kathleen McNamara and her boyfriend Timothy Watson; great grandchildren Howard Henry Naylor and Charlotte Claire Naylor; along with many treasured family members.
The family wishes to thank Enhabit Hospice and A Better Solution In Home Care for their compassionate care.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Services are under the direction of the Colonial Funeral Home of Irving Chapel, 606 W. Airport Freeway.
