Domingo Matos was born on June 9, 1937 in Trujillo, Peru to Lilia Leon and Jose Moises Matos. He was the oldest of 15 siblings. He joined the Peruvian Navy at the age of 18 and several years later he met the Love of his Life Haydee Palpan when she was only 15. Their courtship lasted 4 sweet years and they were married in 1968 in Lima, Peru. Domingo served his country for 32 years and ultimately ended his military career as a highly decorated Master Chief Petty Officer in 1987. He and Haydee had 5 children in Peru and eventually moved to Texas in search of better opportunities for their family. They built a home together in Irving, Texas where he would live out the remainder of his life. He was a kindhearted man who enjoyed playing poker with his friends, dancing with his wife and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. His family remembers him as an honest, hardworking, sincere and charming man who was loved very much and will be deeply missed. Domingo is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Haydee Matos, his children: Daniel Matos, Rocio Cabrera, Victor Matos, Jimmy Matos and Miriam Caywood. Daughters-in-law Karen Matos, Francis Matos, Mary Cardel and Sons-in-law Augusto Cabrera and Graham Caywood. Grandchildren: Victor Daniel, Christian, Rocibelle, Isabella, Antonella, Alexandro, Christopher and Francisco (Paquito). Family will receive friends at the Colonial Funeral Home, 606 W. Airport Freeway, Irving, TX 75062 beginning at 6 P.M. Tuesday, March 22, 2022 followed by Rosary at 7 P.M. Funeral Service 10:00 A.M.
