DEVON EUGENE WILLIS, SR., Tenny, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 peacefully at his home in Irving, TX. Known as Gene or Tenny for anyone who didnt call him Daddy or Grandpa, he was born in Temple, TX on May 5, 1928 to Ray Haskell and Joe Cecil Willis. He lived in Irving since 1952, and was a founding member of the Westside Church of Christ of Irving, TX that started in 1953 meeting out of homes and even a washateria until they were able to build a building. He was married for 43 wonderful years to Helen Elizabeth Parker until her death in 1991. They had three wonderful children. In 1992, he married Leona May Todie Couch for 22 more marvelous years instantly doubling the size of his family. Christmas and other family gatherings were always events where space was tight, but love overflowed. Throughout his life his devotion to family and friends and always wanting them near and dear, meant adding an extra bedroom, converting garages into living rooms or helping others with their own projects. He would share his love of Christ with anyone he met. His love without judgement, his smile with a twinkle in his eye, his laughter and love he shared with his friends and his family, his heart that was pure, never complaining, always unassuming, upbeat in every single way in every single moment of his life, whether high or low, endeared many to him. He was and is the pillar of a great family and a great many friends and the brothers and sisters in Christ he loved and encouraged every day. He is survived by daughters, Debra Bimper, Dana Burk, Laura Couch and Sharon Eversole; son, Don Couch; sister, Helen Rogers; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
