DELORES BATES, age 82, a long-time resident of Irving, Texas, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Irving. Born September 19, 1928 in Rising Star, Texas, she was the daughter of Lester Lee Kirkland and Essie Mae Horne Kirkland. She married R. C. Bob Bates December 12, 1947 in Dallas. She retired from the accounting office of the Southland Corporation. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Irving. Preceded in death by her husband in 2008 and a sister Joyce West, she is survived by her children, Linda Cannon and husband Gary of Carrollton, Jerry Bates and wife Jenny and Terry Bates and wife Gina all of Irving; two sisters, Jean Green of Arlington and Christine Keel of Brownwood; ten grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends 2:00 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home. The funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.
