Clarence Albert Holub passed from this life on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 in Irving, Texas. He was 85. Clarence was born on August 28, 1930 in Schulenburg, Texas to parents, Albert and Frances Holub. He married Barbra Hilliard Feuerhelm on June 7, 1958. The Holubs lived in Irving. He retired in September 1987 from General Motors and dedicated his remaining time to educating and caring for his grandchildren, as well as volunteering at Irving and Lewisville ISD. Clarence was a patient and supportive man with a passion for reading and the school libraries. Mr. and Mrs. Holub received the High Spirited Citizen Award from the City of Irving. The Holubs were also active members in the Keep Irving Beautiful Adopt-a-Spot program and Friends of the Irving Public Library. They were also active at Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church in Irving, and served on the Tejas Girl Scout Council for more than 25 years. Clarence is survived by his wife, Barbra; daughters and sons-in-law, Hilliard Anne and Donald Winkler of Decatur, Texas, Christina and Randy Smith of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Gretchen and Collin Bond, Stephanie and Devin Surls, Paul and Evan Winkler, Rachel and Tom Horton, and Amy Smith; great grandsons, Cole and Lane Horton, Caleb and Keaton Bond and Rhylee Surls; sister and brother-in-law, Vernell and Ernest Mican. He is preceded in death by his parents. Clarence will be buried at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas in a ceremony at 12:30 p.m., Monday, January 18, 2016. A visitation will take place on Sunday, January 17 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Clarences life.
