Obituary

Claire Adele Barber, 23, of Irving, TX died Saturday July 29th at John Sealy Hospital, University of Texas Medical Center in Galveston from complications of septic shock due to a wound that became infected. She was born on August 18, 1993, in Denton, TX. Claire was the light of our lives. She grew up always smiling and brightening everyones world while asserting her own way. Claire was an exceptional student and excelled early at St. Thereses and The Highlands schools, and was an accomplished graduate of North Hills Preparatory. She graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Arts from the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas in Denton, where she loved serving as a Housing Ambassador in Kerr Hall. Claire adored her first job at Cicis Pizza on Beltline Road in Irving. After college, Claire was a caring and compassionate soul that took her empathy, grace and devotion with her to work at WolMed Injury and Accident Services in Denton. Claire also worked as an accomplished videographer and professional photographer for the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park in Wynnewood, OK. She leaves behind stunning photos of the tigers and other animals she worked with, who also came to love our sweet girl and knew her on sight. Most currently, she took her love for children to work in Galveston as a nanny; Claire enjoyed being close to the beach. She was a truly committed vegetarian and environmentalist who also loved music festivals, hoola-hoops, people and animals, the outdoors and so much more. She will be greatly missed. Claire was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Helen Hansell of Irving, Texas. Claire is survived by her parents, Roy and Carol Barber, and brother Aaron Barber of Irving, TX; grandparents Rex and Janell Barber of Iowa; uncle Thomas and aunt Denise Barber and 3 cousins, Laura, Leisa, and Eric of Nebraska and Iowa; Godfather uncle Jack Barber and uncle Mitch Slattum of Minnesota; uncle Dean Barber and cousins Shasha and Dean II of Iowa; uncle Steve and Godmother aunt Gael Murdoch of Austin, TX; and aunt Lora and cousins Nina and Amelia Bennett of Birmingham, England. Claire was the joy of our lives and brought love and laughter to everyone and everything she knew. We will keep you alive in our hearts forever our darling girl.
