Cheryl D. (Whitaker) Thomas, of Irving, passed on to Glory on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. She was born September 22, 1943 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and was preceded in death by her parents, Walter J. Whitaker and Nelma Harris Whitaker. The proud daughter of a career United States Marine, she lived in multiple states and moved to Irving when her dad retired in 1963. She was an avid reader, movie enthusiast, and excellent cook. She enjoyed playing board and card games with her family. She was a Christian, and her family finds comfort knowing she is in the arms of our Lord and Savior. Survivors include her children, Robert Thomas, Jr. and wife Norma, John Thomas, and Christine Goforth; five grandchildren, Kirstin Hawkings and husband Cody, Jason Thomas, David Goforth, Nathan Goforth, and Lillian Goforth; and two great grandchildren Noah Hawkings and Lawson Hawkings; a brother Josh Whitaker and wife Beth and a sister Coralee Whitaker Bettaver and husband Denis. Graveside funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E.
