Charles Charlie Hammett, 82, of Irving, died Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Irving. Born August 4, 1928 in Houston, Texas, he was the son of Charles Marvin Hammett, Sr. and Cora Maye Kelly Hammett. He graduated from Houston High School and the University of Houston and later served in the United States Army. He married Mary Pickle February 15, 1972 in Durant, Oklahoma. He retired from Kentile Flooring after 35 years. Traveling throughout the globe and golfing were his passions. Survivors include his wife Mary of Irving; sons, James G. Hammett and his wife Barbara and Michael C. Hammett; and three grandchildren, Michael, Ken, and Emily. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, 606 W. Airport Freeway in Irving. Burial with military honors will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
