Carrie left this world on Thursday, March 19, 2015. She enjoyed her 74 years as evidenced by her infectious smile, quick wit, and the many lives she impacted daily. Carries vibrant personality and sense of humor will be remembered as some of the traits she possessed that made her truly a one of a kind individual. Carrie was born December 22, 1940 in Emerson, Arkansas and lived in Cullen, Louisiana where she graduated from Springhill High School. Carrie loved life and her Momma and Daddy (Lena (Love) and Henry McMahen of Cullen, Louisiana). She met the love of her life, David Colvin, and together they made a wonderful life and family, first in Arkansas and then later in Dallas, Irving, and Grand Prairie, Texas. She raised two sons, Mike and Mark, instilling in them the desire to always do the right thing, work hard, and enjoy life. Carrie ran a tight ship at home for many years but also worked at Feltner Cards. Later on, she went to work at Sky Chefs where she was a bright spot in peoples day, making many friends and sharing many good laughs. Her efforts were recognized when she received the Employee of the Year Award. Carrie retired from Sky Chefs in 1997 and enjoyed time with David as he retired from Coca Cola, fishing and spending time with friends. Sadly, their time together was far too short as David passed away in 2003. Carrie continued on and proudly watched her grandchildren, Geoff and Chelsea, grow to become good people and talented, successful young adults. She also shared her home with grandchildren, Carly and David, motivating them daily to do their best, and always making sure their clothes were neat and their tummys never empty. Carries cooking skills were legendary and holidays were always spent together guaranteeing good times and lots of good food. She has given yet another generation many life lessons to build upon. Her grandchildren will always carry a part of their Nana in their hearts forever.
Survivors include her two sons, Mike Colvin, and his wife Ronnie, of Bedford, Texas, and Mark Colvin of Grand Prairie. Grandchildren include Geoff Colvin of Bedford, Texas, Chelsea Colvin of Los Angeles, California, Carly Colvin and David Colvin, both of Grand Prairie, Texas. Carrie also leaves behind several relatives and many, many friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 22, 2015, from 5-7 pm at Donnellys Funeral Home in Irving, Texas.
