Obituary

CAROLYN JEAN JETER KELLY, age 79, a long-time resident of Irving, died Thursday, September 5, 2013 at a local hospice. Born August 31, 1934 in Dallas, she grew up in Irving where she participated in church activities, scouts and school activities. Girls basketball was the only girls sport in the 30s, 40s, and 50s and she and her friends played vigorously eventually winning All District. She married John Kelly in 1955 after college and they made their home in Irving. He died October 22, 1990. Their only son, Shane was born in 1958 and only daughter Kim, in 1961. Kim passed away to our Heavenly Father December 19, 2003. Carolyns parents were long time entrepreneurs in Irving as well as the Air Force during World War II. Carolyn was a nine year old who daily anticipated her brother and their sons return unharmed. And he did. Joe Jeter is now 88 years old with lots of war stories to tell. As a teacher, Carolyn taught art for 35 years in Irving and started many young students on the way of enjoyable past times and some even financial gain. Carolyn had a favorite saying concerning her eventual trip to meet her LordIts a WIN WIN situation Ill get to meet Jesus Christ, our Lord, and all my loved ones, family and friends who preceded me. I understand from my daughter, on her death bed, that Heaven is an awesome place. If the Bible and my Kim said itI cant wait to get there. The visitation was 6-8 p.m Monday, September 9, 2013 at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving. The funeral was 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Wallace Philpot officiated. Burial was at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
