Brenda Jean
Hood
Aug 27, 1949 — Nov 2, 2025
Brenda Jean Hood, born on August 27, 1949, in Denison, Texas, to Billie Jean Reynolds and
Marion James (M.J.) Reynolds, passed peacefully surrounded by family on November 2,
2025.
Brenda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Byron Hood Sr.; her parents, Billie
Jean and M.J. Reynolds; and her brothers, Michael Reynolds and Richard Reynolds.
She is survived by her children, who were the light of her life: Byron Hood Jr. and his wife
Sharlene, Billy Hood, Robert (Bobby) Hood, and Darla Lindell and her husband
Jeremy; her daughter-in-love, Linda Bayless and her husband Robert; and her niece and
daughter in her heart, Rebecca Haynes .
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren — Ashley VonZurmuehlen, Brandon Hood,
Preston Hood, Brett Hood, Brooke Burgess, Jaxon Lindell, Skylar Lindell, Ashton Hood, and
Brooklynn Bayless — and her great-grandchildren — Addison, Kylee, and Carter Starek;
Preston Jr. and Mia Hood; and River and Ramsey Burgess.
She is also survived by her brother Jackie Reynolds, along with countless nieces, nephews,
cousins, and in-laws who loved her deeply and were deeply loved in return.
A Life of Faith and Service
Brenda dedicated her life to one of service — to her Lord, her family, and to the countless
children whose lives she shaped.
For decades, Brenda operated a home daycare, where she nurtured, taught, and cared for
children with extraordinary patience and love. Her home was always full of laughter,
learning, and the comforting warmth of her presence.
Those who knew her best remember that her daycare was more than a place of work — it
was an extension of her heart. Many of the children she cared for grew up believing they
were part of her family, and in every meaningful way, they were.
Her Faith and Family
Brenda's life was anchored in faith, and she lived each day with a quiet strength that
inspired everyone who knew her. She was a member at and raised her family in South
MacArthur Church of Christ until its closing, at which time she found her church home with
Belt Line Road Church of Christ.
Her deep love for her family guided everything she did. She found joy in simple moments
— in family gatherings, home-cooked meals, the laughter of children, and the togetherness
that filled her home.
Even in times of heartache, Brenda's faith remained steadfast. She drew comfort from the
promise of Heaven and from the belief that one day she would be reunited with those who
went before her.
Her family takes peace in knowing that her journey has come full circle — that she is now
home, surrounded by love, and welcomed into the presence of her Lord.
Her Legacy
Brenda's impact extends far beyond her years on Earth. She embodied kindness, humility,
and grace. She taught those around her to love deeply, to serve selflessly, and to remain
faithful through every season.
Her family will remember her unwavering devotion, her soft laughter, her ability to make
everyone feel seen and cared for, and the countless ways she put others first.
Brenda's life was a living testament to her faith — one of love, generosity, and quiet
strength. The legacy she leaves behind lives on in the children she raised, the grandchildren
and great-grandchildren she adored, and the many lives she shaped through her care and
compassion.
" Well done, my good and faithful servant ." Her family finds comfort in knowing that her
faith has now become sight — and that the love she poured into others will continue for
generations to come
