Bradford Anton Alexis Mach, age 60, of Irving, Texas, passed away on or about September 3, 2021. Bradford, known as Brad, was born February 21, 1961 in New Jersey. Brad grew up in Indianapolis, IN, graduated from Western Illinois University, and settled in Irving, TX for the last four decades of his life.
Brad had a very strong work ethic. After being laid off from a computer programming job in an economic downturn, Brad got a job on a cleanup crew on a construction site and, over the course of several years, worked his way up to Assistant Project Manager with Hunt Corporation. He learned the ropes quickly and impressed those around him with how hard he was willing to work to get done what needed to be done.
Brad was very intelligent, with a quick wit and a wonderfully dry sense of humor. He always picked the best greeting cards for any occasion. While not always lucky in life, he was, even from a very young age, remarkably lucky at board and card games, almost always winning games played with his mother and sister. His humor always softened the "the blow" of losing to him, though. Even playing remote games, such as Words with Friends, Brad managed to draw great tiles and have humorous remarks to go along with his plays.
Brad loved music and enjoyed playing the electric guitar, especially classic rock and roll music. He enjoyed fixing watches and found solace in listening to the quiet ticking of a watch that was running well.
Although he had no children of his own, Brad liked to help, in a support role, when his mother and step-father entertained children as clowns, magicians, and as Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. Brad would help with the logistics of loading and unloading the van and driving the costumed performers.
Brad never married, but he was devoted to his family, especially his mother, caring for her as she struggled with terminal cancer. The family always had pets, either adopted as strays or from a local humane society, and Brad even adopted a stray of his own, a Siberian Husky, named Max. While all animals had a special place in Brads heart, Max had his own very special place.
Brad was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Marlyss and George Hopkins, also of Irving.
He is survived by his father, Delford, of Largo, FL, his sister, Beth of San Jos, CA (and her husband, Peter), his step-sister, Laquieta Beth of Muncie, IN (and her husband, Bob), Beths daughter, Rebecca, and LaQuieta Beths son, Thomas.
Brads family misses him tremendously. We miss his humor, his gentle teasing, his quick-witted conversations, even losing to him in gamesrepeatedly. The world is a colder and emptier place without him. May he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Brad be remembered through a memorial gift to the American Heart Association.
