Obituary

Billy F. Day, Jr. was a renaissance man. Not only was he physically strong and athletic but he was an artist, a skilled carpenter possessing the ability to construct, remodel and repair anything. He was a print shop owner and operator but most importantly he was the person that you could ask for help and he would be there. He was the best person to go to for advice. He would listen without casting judgement on you. He was fair, level headed, insightful and only gave advice when you asked for it. He had a wonderful sense of humor and everyone enjoyed hearing his stories. He had an incredible work ethic and no matter how he was feeling, he got up every morning and went to work or to help other people. He put a smile on his face and did whatever he could do to help family and friends. Some of his favorite things to do were to watch the history channel, listen to old rock and roll while tinkering with carpentry projects in his garage. He built everything from kitchen cabinets to a loading ramp for the Holy Cross Catholic Church food bank. He loved helping others and drove for Meals-on-wheels on Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. One of his favorite things to do was to take the grandkids to Home Depot and Lowes to build toy carpentry kits, and then off to the park to feed the ducks. As a father, he was there when we were in need of guidance. Each of his children had the opportunity to work along side him at Kustom Kwik Print. Billy learned the trade beside his father Bill Day Sr., and his son Derek carries on that legacy today. Everyone he met admired his perseverance. He led by example. Billy age 63, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Born March 27, 1952 in Ranger, Texas, he was the son of Bill Day Sr. and Helen Alford Day. On February 29, 2008, he married Eva Erwin. Billy was the owner/operator of Kustom Kwik Print in Irving for more than 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Eva Day of Grand Prairie; children, Layla Day, Derek Day and Melissa Emmert and husband Jeremy; grandchildren, Seth Sensel, Levi Day, Pixie Day, Liam Emmert and Olivia Day-Akin all of Irving; father, Billy Day, Sr. of Dallas; mother, Helen Sizelan of Irving; and brother, Tom Day of Dallas. He is also survived by numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and many friends. A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Church of the Incarnation, University of Dallas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the "Chapel Food Bank" at the Church of the Incarnation, University of Dallas Campus, 1845 E. Northgate Dr., Irving, TX 75062.
