Obituary

Betty Williamson (93) passed away peacefully, on Sunday, January 26th, 2025 at her residence in Keller, Texas, with family at her side. She was born on April 5th, 1931 in Dallas, Texas, to Howard R. and Mary Nell Rollison.

Betty is survived by her children: Ben Frank (wife Lillian) Williamson, Jr., Benita (husband J.R.) Buzzell and Jack (wife Misha) Williamson, and brother Dennis (wife Joyce) Rollinson; her grandchildren: Kim (husband Chris) Perryman, Carrie (husband Chris) Edgmon, Kelly (husband Chris) Laney, Alyssa, and Evan and Nathan Buzzell; and great-grandchildren Bethany Perryman; Preston, Cole (wife Sadie) and Parker Odette, Cooper and Carys Edgmon, Madeline (wife Juliette) Smith, and Paris & Porter Laney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 66 years, Ben Frank Williamson, Sr., first husband Jonathan ("Jonnie") Posey and sister Darnell (and husband Hank) Thompson.

Born in Dallas in 1931, during the Great Depression, Betty was no stranger to hard times and hard work. She graduated Crozier Technical High School; lost a husband of just over a year to the Battle of Chosin Reservoir during the Korean Conflict; and married a Dallas Firefighter who rose to the rank of Captain. She was the Secretary to the Director of Maintenance Services at Irving ISD; and Director of Volunteer Services at the University of Texas Health Center in Tyler. She and Ben were founding members of the Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving, where she was also a long-term and loved Sunday School Teacher.

Betty loved her babies (and grand-babies, AND great grand-babies!), and was living proof that love grows – the more you give, the more you have to give. She was well-loved, and will be missed greatly.
