Obituary

Betty Jo McClain Thomas, 83, of Irving, TX, passed December 12, 2019. Betty was born to Dr. Charles and Beatrice McClain, September 29, 1936 in Taylor, TX. She attended Baylor University, and married George A. Thomas (deceased) in 1954. Together they had five children and were married 63 years at the time of his death, last year, in 2018. She leaves her legacy of four children: Chuck Thomas; Cindy Ringness; Cheryl Goff, and her husband, Bill Goff; and Charlotte Glover, and her husband, John Scott Glover. Also revering her memory are 12 precious grandchildren and 25 treasured great grandchildren. She also leaves one brother, much loved Charles McClain. She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Thomas, a former Engineer for Bell Helicopter, and son, Chris. Betty was a real estate broker early on, but once George retired and became active in multiple real estate endeavors, she utilized her amazing eye for design to enhance their properties. Betty was tirelessly devoted to her family, and always known for ease of conversation with complete strangers. Throughout her lifetime she maintained a kind demeanor that earned the trust and hearts of those who met her. Yet her unsurmountable strength, even during troubled times, far exceeded her ever-present signature gift of charm. That gift, which was shown relentlessly through her smiling spirit and love of laughter, will never be forgotten. Betty McClain Thomas, you left your mark, and you made a difference. You were selfless well done. We feel your imprint on our hearts. "What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us." ~ Helen Keller, author and political activist A viewing is scheduled for Thursday, December 19th, and the family will receive friends from 1 oclock to 2:00 pm at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at Donnellys, 606 West Airport Freeway (Hwy.183), Irving, at 2:00 pm. The family would like to thank the Irving Police Department and detectives for their expeditious service. If you would like to give donations, the family requests that you give to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in George and Bettys name and in Georges honor. SERVICES
