BETTY JEAN KOONS, age 77, a resident of Irving, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at a Bedford hospital. She was born in Blue Ridge, Texas on December 2, 1933, the first child of Doyle and Idesal Webb. She enjoyed growing up in a rural environment and would often relate stories of her experiences there. Later the family would relocate to Dallas where Betty graduated from Sunset High School in 1952. She would create friendships there that would last her lifetime. She met her future husband, Wayne Koons in 1950 and they were married three years later during his service in the Navy. They moved to Irving in 1957. A homemaker, she enjoyed oil painting and ceramics, Dixieland jazz and dining out. Survivors include her husband, Wayne; son, Richard Koons of Houston; and brother, Richard Webb of Dallas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, June 10 at the funeral home chapel. Graveside service 1:00 p.m., at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
