age 83, a resident of Irving, Texas since 1963, died Sunday, January 31, 2010 in Irving. She was born September 14, 1926 in Cherokee County, Texas. The daughter of Hershel and Edna Stockton Walker, Betty married Eldridge Gay May 11, 1946 in Jacksonville, Texas. She was a member of Oak View Baptist Church in Irving. Survivors include her husband, of Irving; daughter, Linda Butts and husband Marvin of Grand Prairie; son, David Gay and wife Jean of Hickory, North Carolina; grandchildren, Katherine Gay of Harper's Ferry, West Virginia, Ryan Butts of Lubbock, Nathan Butts of Grand Prairie; and great granddaughter, Lily Gay of Harper's Ferry, WV. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the funeral home chapel with Dr. Jim Gerlach officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.
