Bertha M. "Bert" Norman, 97, a resident of Irving since 2016, formerly a long-time resident of Richardson (1965-2016) died Friday, October 7, 2022 surrounded by her family at her home. Born June 5, 1925 in Smithville, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Vencil and Mollie Mares Barina. She married Thomas J. Norman January 30, 1948 in Austin. She was a homemaker and member of Mater Dei Latin Catholic Community in Irving. She volunteered many years for White Rose Womens Center in Dallas and was a strong voice for the return of the Latin Mass in our area. Preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Edna Tennison, Georgia Poole, Dorothy Young, Gladys Zimmerhanzel, Helen Matocha, and Mary Barina ; and an infant granddaughter, Sophia Norman, she is survived by her husband of 74 years, Thomas J. Norman of Irving; five children, Stephen Norman of Dallas, Laura Gibbs of Santa Barbara, CA, Daniel Norman and wife Karen of Midland, Timothy Norman and wife Viki and Cynthia Norman, all of Irving; ten grandchildren, Joseph Norman, Catherine Norman, Michael Norman, Jimmy Norman, David Norman, Michele Norman, Angela Norman, Ana Norman, Francesca Norman, Isabella Norman, and Sophia Norman; and fourteen great grandchildren, Luke, Damian, Arianna, Ronan, Fulton, Mairin, Lilly, Samuel, Hudson, Chloe, Jonah, Brendan, Zachary, and Abigail. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2022 at Colonial Funeral Home of Irving, 606 West Airport Freeway 75062; a Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. The Requiem Mass will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Mater Dei Latin Mass Parish, 2030 East State H Hwy 356, Irving, TX 75060. Burial will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, TX 75220. There will be a reception following the committal service in the funeral home at Calvary Hill.
