Obituary

Barbara Jean Spruill Dunn

Barbara Jean Spruill Dunn, 94, of Irving, Texas, passed away peacefully in Dallas on October 16, 2026. After her regular Friday beauty shop visit with her daughter-in-law, Mindy Dunn, Barbara settled down for an afternoon nap and awoke in the presence of her Lord.

Born December 30, 1931, in Dallas to Vasol Leon Spruill and Cleo Marie Hansen Spruill, Barbara graduated from Irving High School and worked for many years as an executive assistant. A lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Irving, she served faithfully as a children’s Sunday School teacher and choir member. Her enduring faith and love for her family shaped her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Claude Dunn; and her brothers, Douglas Spruill and James Spruill.

She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Phil and Alisa Dunn, Paul and Brinda Dunn, and Preston and Mindy Dunn; six grandchildren, Marcus Dunn and wife Lauren, Kelsie Morris and husband Will, Kristin Millington and husband Duncan, Preston Dunn and wife Brittany, Tanner Dunn, and Kathryn Dunn; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

The family is especially grateful to Tila Netro, whose devoted care brought Barbara comfort and dignity and gave her family peace. Barbara will be lovingly remembered as Mother, Meemaw, and Aunt Barbara.

Visitation will be Monday, November 2, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home of Irving, 606 West Airport Freeway. A graveside service will be Tuesday, November 3, at 1:00 p.m. at Dallas–Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas.
