BARBARA ROSE COOLING HALSEY, age 91, a resident of Irving, Texas since 1954, died peacefully at her home surrounded by all of her seven children Friday, July 22, 2011. Born August 1, 1919 in Rockford, Illinois, she was the daughter of Wilfred B. Cooling and Marvia Needham Cooling. She was a pharmacists mate in the U S Navy WAVS during World War II. A certified Master Graphoanalyst, and very active in local politics volunteering for the League of Women Voters, she was a member of St. Lukes Catholic Church, where she had served as church librarian. The youngest and last surviving of ten siblings, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Jonathan H. Halsey. Survivors include her children, Virginia, Jonathan, Isabel and Monica, all of Irving, Claire of Bryan, TX, Chris of Azle, and Martha of Lafayette, LA; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation and funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Donnellys Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
