Barbara Ruth Harriss Archer, age 92, of Irving Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 8, 2020. She was born on December 12, 1927, in New York City, NY. At the age of 10, she and her parents moved from New York to Sulphur Springs, TX. Barbara attended college in east Texas before moving to Dallas, TX in 1955. She then met and married Numan (Glenn) Archer; they were married June 12,1956. She worked for Dr. Wise and Dr. Stubbs Dentistry in Irving as a dental hygienist until 1973. She then worked for The Associates until she retired after 20 years in 1993. After retirement, she volunteered at the Food Pantry. Barbara's greatest joy was being a part of the Piccadilly Flower Club founded on October 27,1959. The club received many awards for assisting in civic, community, and club projects for beautifying the citys environment. She was preceded in death by her parents; Steven Harriss and Eva (Secovis) Harriss; her ex-husband Glenn Archer; and a daughter, Julie Ann Archer. She is survived by her son, Steve Archer, wife Gwen; three step-grandsons: Chad Reynolds (Jennifer), Jason Eddington (Candice), Jeremy Eddington (Michele); 6 great-grandchildren, Gavin, Ella, Madison, Judson, Abigail, and Ty. A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, 1413 E. Irving Blvd., Irving, TX.
