Obituary

Arthur Dewey Sinclair passed away peacefully from his home into Heaven on December 31, 2024, at the age of 87. He was born in 1937 in San Antonio to his late parents, Arthur and Gladys Sinclair as their second child. A native Texan, he grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Brackenridge High School. While in High School he enlisted in the US Navy Reserve and then served 8 years as a Petty Officer 2nd Class.

He began his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in 1955, excelled up the corporate ladder and retired in 1991 with 36 years of service. After retirement, he worked for GTE as an independent contractor for 10 years.

He met his first love, Anna Wiley, in 1955 and they fell in love and married in 1956. They had 4 children, Cheryl, Rhonda, Brent and Joy and were married for 23 years. His 4 children were the light of his life and his greatest inspiration. He worked very hard and had several jobs in order to provide for his family and also made time to be their coach in many sports.

After his divorce in 1979, he met Sherry Mayes and they soon fell in love, were wed in 1981 and married for 38 years. The blended family became 6 children and their spouses, and then the grandchildren. Art and Sherry enjoyed traveling to many places, including Scotland, Germany, Las Vegas and Maui. They shared many wonderful memories and family gatherings. Both of them were the most treasured grandparents and were loved so much.

He was dedicated to reading the Bible, following Jesus and living a life of love and generosity to others. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan and could talk to you about many stats on Football. He was very passionate about his family, friends, sports, tennis, bowling, dancing, movies, fishing, attending events for his family, politics, working on his puzzles, playing card games and Solitaire. A man of high integrity, he was truly a rock for his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, former wives Anna Sinclair and Sherry Sinclair, his son Brent Sinclair and his beloved canine companion Heidi. He is survived by his loving sister, Hazel Brown, his 3 daughters, Cheryl Cox, Rhonda Balcar and Joy Becker and their husbands and families that include 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition, his bonus family from his marriage to Sherry Sinclair includes stepdaughter Stacy Leigh and stepson Troy Walters and 6 grandchildren.

Arthur (PawPaw) was so proud of his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They always put a smile on his face when they came to see him and talked on the phone! His smile, weekly phone conversations and his humorous Sinclair style will be missed by everyone that knew him.

He was loved by so many and a blessing to all. He leaves a proud legacy that will be cherished and honored by his loved ones. Arthur, Dad, PawPaw will be in our hearts and souls forever.
