Arlena Faye Cook, 86, of Irving, was born on October 12, 1939, in Caney, OK the daughter of Ferman Smith and Walsie Massey Smith. Arlena passed away July 12, 2026, at the Vitas Hospice Facility in Carrollton, Texas.

Arlena retired in 2000 from the Dallas Morning News in Dallas after 30 years as a typesetter

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ronald Cook

Arlena is survived by her sons, Kevin Cook and Keith Cook and wife Julie; grandchildren, Laura Dumke, Jarred Cook, and Drew Cook; great grandchildren, Braelyn, Brielle, Ellie and Landon; and her siblings, Margarette Townsend, Carolyn Nolan and husband C. Wayne and Edith Johns.

Family and friends are invited to visit form 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Saturday, July 18th at the Colonial Funeral Home of Irving Chapel – 606 West Airport Freeway, Irving, TX 75062. After the time of visitation, cremation will follow per Arlena request.
